Changelog - 7/17/2021


Welcome to the second post-release update of Centum, version 1.02.

Changelog

Added:

- New scroll: scroll of Charm Monster. Fires an enchanting bolt that charms the first monster it hits, permanently converting it to your side. Charmed monsters are persistent allies that follow you down stairs. They  wander semi-randomly, attack other monsters and can cast friendly spells (healing, empowerment) on you. They cannot use ranged attacks, however. You can only have one tamed monster at a time - if you charm another monster, the previous monster will lose its tamed status. Don't use this on yourself or on Shadow property monsters, it won't work. Charm (or tameness) is a brand new feature and probably has a lot of bugs. Let me know if you find anything weird.

- New scroll: scroll of Infuse Weapon. Applies a temporary buff on your weapon (or fists) that applies a powerful magical effect on your foes. Infusion effects include blasting a fireball or lightning bolt (same as scrolls), a poison effect, stun, or lifesteal (heal for 50% of damage done). Infusion effects apply 50% of the time on every hit and last approximately 18-24 turns.

- New scroll: scroll of Poison Bolt. Inflicts poison on all monsters in a row.

- New relic type: Harvest. Appears on rings, amulets, and gloves. Harvest allows you to heal 1/8 of your maximum hitpoints when you kill a monster.

- New weapon: bloody scythe. A rare high-tier weapon that applies lifesteal on 30% of its attacks.

- New armors: royal tunic and cloak of displacement. The royal tunic is a mid-tier armor that gives a good mix of defense and evasion as well as poison immunity. The cloak of displacement is a high-tier armor that provides high evasion  as well as an automatic reactive ability to teleport attackers away from the wearer.

- New armor mechanic: armor absorption. Appears on ringmail, chainmail, royal tunic, platemail, and dragon scales. These heavy armors have a 30% chance to apply double their base defensive bonus whenever you receive damage.

- New monster: treasure chests! Well, technically a monster. Treasure chests appear randomly approximately every 25 floors (very roughly).  Destroying chests will drop a large sum of gold, so keep a look out! They say if you're lucky, you might see them even more often...

- Ambrosia now grants +1 strength and dexterity and +5 to maximum hitpoints when consumed.


These changes will hopefully make the game a little easier and more fun to play. In the near future, I'm hoping to build upon the charmed monster system more (full on pet system maybe? pet store?) as well as add new monsters and challenges. Thanks for supporting my game!
